Michael C. Schaufele, CPA

Michael C. Schaufele, a native of Little Rock, received a BSBA in accounting from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville in 1971. He immediately joined a national accounting firm where he worked until 1973. In 1973 he returned to Little Rock, joining a regional accounting firm. In 1979 Mike left to become a partner in L. Cotton Thomas & Company.

Mike is either the engagement or review partner for most of the nonprofit organizations audited or reviewed by the firm.   Mike has served on the Boards of numerous organizations, as well as a volunteer consultant.  Also, Mike was recognized as the National Volunteer of the Year by the Easter Seals Society in 1992.


Lindsay M. Thomas, CPA

Lindsay M. Thomas, a native of Little Rock, received a BSBA in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1973. He immediately joined L. Cotton Thomas and Company, and was admitted as a partner in 1977.

Lindsay is active in both the Firm’s audit and tax practice. Areas of tax practice include individual, corporate, partnership and estate and trust taxation. Areas of audit experience include construction, transportation, manufacturing and insurance (both life and property and casualty insurance companies, including captives and self insured groups). Lindsay is the partner in charge for the majority of the Firm’s construction clients.

Lindsay is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. In 1999, Lindsay received the Arkansas Society of CPA’s Outstanding Public Service Award.


Ronald E. Meyers, CPA

Ron graduated with a BSBA in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1981. He worked for regional and local certified public accounting firms in Fort Smith and eventually formed a successful practice there. In 1995, he moved to Little Rock to take a position with L. Cotton Thomas & Company. He was admitted as a partner with the Firm in 1997.

While the majority of Ron’s auditing experience has been with construction contractors, he also has significant experience with banks, wholesale distribution and nonprofit organizations.  He currently serves as the technology administrator of the Firm and as the director of quality control.

Ron has previously served on the board of directors of the Arkansas Society of CPA’s, and currently serves on the Society's Peer Review Committee.  In addition, Ron currently serves on the boards of directors of two nonprofit organizations.


Chad Miller, CPA

Chad Miller received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting from Henderson State University in 1997. Upon graduation, he worked on the audit staff of a regional accounting firm with clients around the world. His employment with this firm enabled Chad to work on audit engagements for a variety of clients across the United States. Chad became a partner in L. Cotton Thomas & Company in January, 2010.

Chad has worked for L. Cotton Thomas & Company since 2000 interrupted by an absence serving as CFO of a non-profit. During that time, he gained experience in all facets of an accounting department, including maintaining the general ledger and all related subsidiary ledgers, preparation of payroll reports, preparation of monthly and year-end internal financial statements, specialized reporting, cash flow analysis, and yearly budgeting. Chad’s experience in public accounting includes audits of non-profit organizations, municipal component units, special governmental units, nursing homes, distributors, manufacturers, service providers, and retirement plans.

Chad is a member of various civic and professional organizations, and is actively involved in the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants.


Sherryl Miller, CPA

Sherryl Miller graduated summa cum laude with a major in accounting from Southern State University. She worked for certified public accounting firms in El Dorado and Russellville, before moving to Little Rock in 1991 and joining the firm of L. Cotton Thomas & Company. In addition, she has taught accounting classes as adjunct professor at Southern Arkansas University and Arkansas Tech University. She holds the credentials of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).

Her experience includes audits of nonprofit organizations, municipal component units, water departments, special governmental units, hospitals, nursing homes, employee pension plans, municipal bond law and arbitrage rebate. Sherryl has served as an officer and Board member of the Arkansas Association of Governmental Accountants, and has served the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy in her capacity as an independent technical reviewer for their quality review program.
